Frequently asked questions
How is FeedScholar different from Google Scholar alerts?
Google Scholar alerts are keyword matches: they need you to already know the right query terms, and they flood you with every paper that mentions them. FeedScholar uses AI to pick only the handful of new papers that fit your research, each with a short reason it was picked.
Which journals do you cover?
FeedScholar covers new papers across the journals of your field, and each subfield page lists the main journals it follows. If we missed a source that matters in your subfield, tell us and we'll add it.
What does 'it gets sharper with each digest' mean?
On Basic and Pro, your ratings shape your feed. A thumbs-up brings more papers like that one, and a thumbs-down brings fewer. On any plan you can also edit your profile directly at any time.
Is the digest free?
Yes. The free plan is a monthly digest of the top 5 papers in your subfield, free forever, with profile editing. Paid plans send weekly or monthly, your choice, with sub-area precision and learning from your ratings, and add depth today: digest history, coverage review, and saved-paper tags and notes. Every plan can talk with a paper: 1 paper a month on Free, 10 papers a month on Basic, and unlimited papers (fair use) on Pro. More research areas are coming soon.
Which fields do you support?
Civil engineering is live today. Every other field has a waitlist, and the waitlist counts decide which discipline we build next, so joining it is the strongest vote you can cast.
How long does setup take?
About two minutes. You answer a short questionnaire about your subfield, methods, and the papers you couldn't afford to miss; a live preview shows your real feed before you ever give an email address.
Can I edit what FeedScholar thinks I care about?
Yes. Your profile (subdiscipline, methods, materials, keywords, and seed papers) is fully visible and editable, with a live preview of how each change shifts your feed.
How do I cancel?
One click, from any digest email or from your account page. If you cancel a paid plan, the free monthly digest keeps arriving; if you unsubscribe entirely, sending stops immediately.
