Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 October 2026
FeedScholar is operated by EdsDev INC ("we", "us"). FeedScholar is a service that curates new academic research papers matched to your interests and delivers them to your inbox. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. By using FeedScholar you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the service:
- Your email address, to authenticate you and send your digests.
- Your research profile: the answers you give in the questionnaire and any seed papers you provide, so we can rank papers for your research area.
- Your questions about papers, and the answers FeedScholar gave, so you can return to a conversation during the month. We delete the text of a conversation once the month after it has ended.
- Engagement data: whether a digest email was opened and which papers you clicked or rated, used to improve the relevance of future digests.
- Basic technical data: IP address, browser type, and timestamps, logged for security and to keep the service reliable.
Papers you upload
When FeedScholar cannot get an open-access copy of a paper, you can upload its PDF to talk with it. We store an uploaded PDF privately in Cloudflare R2. Only you can read it, and we use it only to answer your questions about that paper. When you delete your account, we delete every PDF you uploaded. Upload only a PDF you have the right to use.
How we use your information
We use your information to provide and improve FeedScholar: to build your profile, rank and deliver relevant papers, learn from your feedback, secure the service, and contact you about your account. We do not sell your personal information.
Email and consent
You receive digests because you signed up and gave consent. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link and our mailing address. As a Canadian operator we comply with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL): explicit consent, clear sender identification, and a working unsubscribe in every message.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of third parties to operate FeedScholar. They process data only on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:
- Google Firebase: authentication (passwordless sign-in links).
- Mailgun: sending digest and transactional emails.
- Google Gemini: AI ranking of papers, and answers to your questions about a paper (your question and passages from the paper are processed to write the answer).
- Cloudflare and our hosting provider: serving and protecting the site, and storing PDFs you upload in Cloudflare R2.
Cookies and tracking
The website uses only the storage needed to keep you signed in. Digest emails include open- and click-tracking so we can measure relevance; you can opt out by disabling images in your mail client or by unsubscribing.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your profile and account data while your subscription is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your account page, or by contacting us. We remove it from our systems.
Security
We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's privacy
FeedScholar is not directed to anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page, effective when posted. Please review it periodically.
